  3. CURES FROM THE WOMB

  6. A Newsweek article this past month focused on fetal tissue
  7. research. According to scientists, fetal tissue has become the
  8. new hope of incurable deceases such as Parkinson's Disease,
  9. juvenile diabetes, Huntington's Disease, and Hurler's Syndrome.
  10. There are also at least 155 genetic disorders that could be
  11. corrected before birth with fetal tissue.
  12.  
  13. Is this good news or bad? Can we as Christians encourage such
  14. research or condemn it? Nowhere in Scripture does God forbid the
  15. transplanting of organs from one person to another. For example,
  16. a person dies and his eyes and other internal organs (kidneys,
  17. liver, pancreas, etc.) are donated to a person in need. 
  18. Therefore the research and transplants themselves are not
  19. unscriptural.

  21. The problem arises when the scientists use the fetal tissue of
  22. intentionally aborted babies. What a market! 1.6 million babies'
  23. bodies! Now that President Clinton has rescinded the ban on
  24. spending federal funds for the transplantation of tissue from
  25. aborted fetuses into humans, the field is wide open. Prior to
  26. this, doctors could only "legally" use babies who died from
  27. miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies. Fetal transplantation has
  28. now become a million dollar industry.

  30. Question now arise, according to the Newsweek article. Should
  31. fetuses be sold, like blood, or imported from poorer countries?
  32. Should society allow the stockpiling of spare fetal parts for
  33. cosmetic purposes? Will the fetal transplantation industry
  34. influence more women to choose abortion in order to donate their
  35. fetuses for a "good cause?" Will someone with an ailing loved one
  36. get pregnant and be allowed to abort their baby for fetal
  37. transplantation? Will we have a harvesting of fetuses?

  39. Science proceeds further and further into its genetic immorality.
  40. Where will it all stop? As Bible-believing Christians we must
  41. condemn all fetal transplantation from "induced abortions." To
  42. kill an unborn baby in order to try to help a diseased person is
  43. not scriptural. To harvest fetuses through abortions for
  44. transplantation use is abhorrent! Yet it is legal. Twenty years
  45. ago the Supreme Court, in legalizing abortion, ruled that the
  46. fetus has no constitutional right to protection by the law.
  47. Legally, the fetus is now a nothing. And yet the fetus is clearly
  48. a growing human being. A human nothing? In essence our government
  49. is saying a living fetus in the womb is worth nothing, but an
  50. aborted, "killed" fetus is very valuable.
